Across conflict zones and fractured societies, a new generation of leaders is not waiting for diplomatic institutions to reform, they are already building peace in real time. Their approaches are rooted less in inherited protocol and more in imagination and new forms of trust-building that emerge where formal diplomacy often cannot reach.
This session explores the youth-led peace-building models taking shape at the frontlines of conflict and fragility, while interrogating what these efforts reveal about the limits of traditional diplomatic frameworks. Just as critically, it asks what support must come from the current generation of leaders if these models are to endure and scale: from sustained financing and political cover to mentorship, protection, and pathways into formal decision-making without forcing assimilation into outdated systems.
At its core, the conversation reframes the future of diplomacy as an intergenerational compact. What becomes possible when those who hold power today choose to invest trust, resources, and legitimacy in the leaders already practicing peace differently, and commit to enable their ambition?
