Modern Movements

Date
April 14, 2026
Time
9:00 am - 4:00 pm

Art has long served as a powerful vehicle for activism, dialogue, and diplomacy. Inspired by works in the traveling exhibition Modern Movements: Selections of Latin American and Caribbean Art from the Art Museum of the Americas, this symposium will examine how artists interpret political realities, social issues, human rights struggles, and cultural exchanges. In a series of virtual panel discussions, scholars and leaders will reflect on the enduring capacity of art to shape movements, influence narratives, and build understanding across societies. The symposium isย part of Diplomatic Courier’s annual Capital Dialogues held during the IMF-World Bank Spring Meetings and hosted by International Arts & Artists (IA&A).
