The Infotrition Lab
Building a New Science and Standards for the Health of our Information Lives
The Challenge
What gets measured, gets managed; what gets measured, is valued. We rigorously measure what we feed our bodies, and what’s in our physical environment, but not what we feed our minds or what’s in our mental environment. This lack of measurement is precisely why our global information ecosystem is being polluted with zero accountability and minimal awareness. This vacuum of measurement and standards allows bad actors to exploit the attention economy with impunity, turning outrage and division into wealth and power, from influencers to politicians. Without politically neutral, repeatable, transparent, data-driven measures, accountability efforts are easily dismissed as censorship.
The Opportunity
The Center for Applied Information Health (CAIH) fills a critical gap by creating the first frameworks, standards, and measures for the health impact of information, individually and collectively. Just as nutrition and environmental science protect bodies and ecosystems, CAIH aims to protect our information environment. Through tools like the Agitation Index, ethical certifications, and grassroots campaigns, CAIH is creating a new incentive and value system around balanced, trustworthy content, and enabling policies and consumer choices that are politically scalable and defensible; unlocking a more sustainable shift toward clarity.
Theory of Change
A healthier information environment starts with objective, transparent data. By building tools that expose both harmful and positive actors in a transparent, immediately verifiable way, and empowering people and policy-makers to engage with these standards, CAIH aims to spark a culture shift. Through grassroots education, partnerships, and open data, we can drive awareness, change behavior, and support policy reform, shaping a future where quality information strengthens minds, communities, and society.
