Signals & Discernment
World in 2050’s virtual roundtable series
Finding patterns in an ocean of noise
We host virtual roundtables in advance of multilateral summits to make sense of the day’s pressing issues. This series of virtual roundtables convenes on the eve or directly after major multilateral gatherings. The purpose? Sift through an ocean of noise and distraction to surface and dissect what really matters as global leaders gather – or to make sense of what happened in the immediate aftermath, and what it means for our future.
Building insights, brick by brick
Built around a core of World in 2050 Senior Fellows, these roundtables create a continuity of learnings so what was gleaned, is not lost. One consistent problem with gatherings of experts is they are usually iterative. You meet, discuss, learn, record, then move on. With a core of experts embedded in the World in 2050 ecosystem, the insights of today are the building blocks on which the next convening is built.
Roadmaps for impact
Every roundtable yields a proceedings report, co-authored by our Senior Fellows and World in 2050 staff. These reports are designed with actionable insights in mind, translating knowledge into roadmaps for doers to implement to foster resilience and more intentional systems design. Continuity of knowledge-building and thematic focus on pressing issues impacting global convenings happening just after – or convened just before – means that rapid turnaround of insights focused on what stakeholders can do now to prepare for tomorrow will bring unique and powerful value. Quick insights focused on what can be done now by precarious actors in volatile global affairs ecosystems to build versatility in a rapidly changing environment will be core to making sure the future isn’t something we react to, but something we build.
