Health Impact Credit
Turning Health into an Investable Asset
The Challenge
Millions of people around the world are excluded from quality healthcare not simply because of a lack of funding, but because traditional financing models fail to value the full spectrum of health improvements. It’s a problem made worse when considering the measurable gains from self-care, prevention, and community-driven solutions. Without innovative mechanisms to monetize these health benefits, critical investments remain untapped and underserved populations are left behind.
The Opportunity
Health Impact Credits (HICs) offer a game-changing way to transform health improvements—such as disease prevention, maternal health gains, or expanded vaccine access—into measurable, monetizable units. HICs create a new asset class that attracts private capital to health outcomes. This model links investment directly to real-world health benefits, engages public-private partnerships, and unlocks scalable, sustainable financing for self-care, preventive medicine, and broader health system strengthening.
Theory of Change
If we can quantify and trade the value of health improvements, then we can shift healthcare from being seen as a cost to being recognized as a high-return investment. By creating a market for HICs, we actively align the interests of investors, companies, and communities. Investors fund initiatives that deliver measurable health gains; companies innovate and expand access; and, communities benefit through improved wellbeing. This cycle generates both financial returns and social impact, paving the way for a more just, equitable, and resilient global health system.
